A message in a bottle, a mental image that instantly sparks curiosity and an immediate connection to some fascinating story. Bombay Sapphire changes the symbolic focus from the past and launches a message to the future with the creation of the first holographic message in a bottle. A packaging design for drinks that surprises.
Bombay seeks to connect with the gentlemen at the bars, the bartenders. In a booming sector such as that of gins, differentiating yourself from the competition doesn't seem like an easy task. Even with pressure from new brands on the market, artisanal spirits trending and the boom in super premium gins, bartenders seem to be attracted to this new campaign.
The hologram is created through an image on your mobile phone that is then projected through a layer of Persex (a type of plastic). It's a bit of science to reflect the image and create a unique brand experience.
This example reminds us that innovation in drink packaging isn't only for practical reasons, the ecology or the introduction of new materials. It's also for telling a story in a different way.
The international campaign was managed by the agency BBDO Dusseldorf.
