Facebook Messenger: Another chance to connect with your clients
Written by: Jerom
It was recently announced that you can now advertise in Facebook Messenger. The instant messenger service - used by over 1.000 million people each month - offers businesses another chance to get in touch with their audience.
If a user has previously gotten in touch with your brand, you can pay to send them sponsored ads.
Does the user still hold the power?
It's worth clarifying that Messenger ads are only shown to users who are in an active conversation with a brand. These messages may only contain one link and a photo. They cannot run at the same time as ads on other platforms, such as Facebook or Instagram (as we mentioned in: Ads in Instagram from Facebook).
If a company wants to start a conversation with a user and the user isn't interested they can block that company.
Facebook Messenger and chatbots
Ads in Messenger will also take advantage of chatbots, which they introduced some months ago. The goal of this artificial intelligence software is to allow users to communicate with companies directly. Chatbots carry out customer support tasks without the intervention of a human being. Moreover, there are quick response buttons and you can send gifs.
Start a conversation
Additionally, businesses can direct users to Messenger through news ads in Facebook, simply by adding a call to action to initiate a conversation with just one click.
Facebook mentions that the first advertisers to use this news feed service to open conversations in Messenger aimed to boost awareness of their brand as well as to boost sales. One of these pioneers was Absolut, who claimed they saw good results from their experience.
